The ViSmart™ is an industrial solid-state fluid condition viscometer built to world class semiconductor specifications. It is ideally suited for embedded applications (mobile or fixed asset) where cost-effectiveness, high performance characteristics and scalability of implementation are prime considerations. The ViSmart™ sensor with an industrial DB25 connector employs a proprietary implementation of the serial peripheral interface (SPI) and is intended to allow 0.5 km data transmission over 8-pair cable at 64 kbps data rates (with optional line drivers/receivers).

The digital sensor interface has a hot-swap power controller to limit in-rush current and transient voltage protection on all socket pins.

The serial sensor interface (SSI) card includes:

1. 8 channel differential 24-bit Sigma-Delta ADC.
2. 8 channel 12-bit Voltage DAC.
3. 128KB serial EEPROM memory for calibration data.
4. 4.096V reference.
5. Options include line drivers and intrinsically safe barrier.
6. Options include interface to standard industry communication protocols (Profibus, etc.) per customer specifications.
